Fearlessness in Difficult Times

German Retreat with the monks and nuns from the EIAB and Plum Village

The practice of mindfulness and stopping can show us what to do and what not to do in difficult situations. When our mind is not at rest the decisions we make can lead to further difficulties.
The first thing we need to do when we feel great insecurity and we meet challenges as regards our health, our relationships, our career, the climate crisis and the threatened existence of life on earth,  is to come back to our practice of mindfulness to stop our mind going around in circles. In order to do this we need to train ourselves by mindful breathing, walking and practice in all our daily activities. This kind of training takes place in a retreat such as the one we shall organize in EIAB with the support of many long term practitioners.

Mindfulness is a Source of Happiness

A Day of Mindfulness

A Dharma Talk and other meditation practices led by the monks and nuns of Plum Village.

Time: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.,

Doors open at 09.00

Language of Dharma talk: English with translation into German

We have enough conditions to be happy and all we need to do is to train our mind to be aware of those conditions. The practice of mindfulness is what trains our mind. With mindful breathing and walking we can let go of our worries and regrets and touch the conditions we have to be happy in the present moment.

Wake up to Happiness

Dutch Retreat with the monks and nuns from the EIAB

Our world needs happy people and when we are happy we bring happiness to others.

Many of us look for happiness in the future but happiness is only available in the present moment. We can experience happiness when we are aware of our two eyes bringing us so many colours and forms, our ears bringing us the sound of the birds singing, our two feet that can walk on the earth, our heart beating normally, our lungs breathing the fresh air, and our loved ones who are with us.

Rather than looking at what is going wrong  we can choose to look at what is going right. We shall also practice to take care of the difficult moments when they arise. We do all this during the retreat with the support of other like-minded people and many experienced practitioners.

Due to the pandemic of Corona there will be some changes in this retreat. These are the most important details:

There will be only single rooms available for single guests. Rooms with two or more beds are reserved only for couples or people living in the same household. There will be different categories of single rooms: single rooms with seperate bath and toilet or single rooms with bath and toilet on the floor.

There will be no camping and we can’t offer places for guests staying elsewhere.

The number of guests is limited to only 100 guests.

This year we can’t receive children or teenagers.

The nuns and monks from Plum Village can’t join us.

There will be no staff members.

At the moment we are elaborating our arrangements for hygiene due to corona. We are doing everything to keep our guests safe together with the person entrusted with hygiene according to the rules of the government of NRW, Germany.

We will always adapt our rules to the prevailing rules of NRW.
