K2006-1: TAI CHI FANS - 42 YANG STYLE - Part 1 - Dynamic meditation to promote health and joy

06.02.2020 - 09.02.2020

Course 3I with Thay Phap An and Sr. Song Nghiem

Tai Chi exercises have many different facets. They extend from its health benefits, to its meditative and martial arts aspects.
In this course we will learn the Tai Chi fan form, to both keep our healthy and because of its aesthetic aspects. Combat with fans is not the main focus. With fans Tai Chi appears as a peaceful dance full of beneficial coolness. This Tai Chi fan form consists of a series of 42 movements in Yang style. All the basic elements are integrated into the Tai Chi Chuan form.
Once we have mastered the Tai Chi fan form, then the fans seem to effortlessly glide through the room by themselves. The cracking sound of the fans wakens the mind. Aesthetic movements alternate with more dynamic elements. The movements are soft and flowing, yet full of inner power.
One special feature of the Tai Chi fans is the cracking sound they make when we open them. When we practise, this crack rouses the mind. The opening and closing of the fans optimises the interaction between muscles, tendons, joints and the spinal cord, and sets a circulation of energy in motion, which helps regulate our Qi.
The Tai Chi exercises will be accompanied by guided and still sitting and walking meditations, short hikes, talks, deep relaxation and mindful sharings or tea meditation.

This course will also be offered on the following dates:
06.02. – 09.02 / 18.06 – 21.06. / 29.10 – 01.11. 2020
The courses can be attended independently of each other.
