K2315-2: WAKE UP RETREAT - DWELLING HAPPILY IN THE PRESENT MOMENT - with Br. Tue Chieu & Br. Phap Lich -

13.04.2023 - 16.04.2023

- with Br. Tue Chieu & Br. Phap Lich -

For young people between 18-35 years.

Wake Up is an active global community of young mindfulness practitioners, aged 18-35, inspired by the teachings of Zen Master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. We come together to practice mindfulness in order to take care of ourselves, nourish happiness and contribute to building a healthier and a more compassionate society.

We want to help our world which is overloaded with intolerance, discrimination, craving, anger and despair. Seeing the environmental degradation caused by our society, we want to live in such a way that our planet Earth can survive for a long time. Practicing mindfulness, concentration and insight, enables us to cultivate tolerance, non-discrimination, understanding and compassion in ourselves and the world.

The Buddha said, “Life can be found only in the present moment", but our minds rarely dwell in the present moment. Instead, we chase after the past or long for the future. We think we are being ourselves, but in fact, we rarely are in real contact with ourselves. Our minds are too busy chasing after yesterday’s memories or tomorrow’s dreams. The only way to be in touch with life is to return to the present moment. Once you know how to return to the present moment, you will become awakened, and at that moment, you will find your true Self”
We know that you are young friends looking for happiness and success for yourselves and your family, but you may be losing yourselves in worries, anxieties, and fears about what the Buddha said above. Your bodies are here but your minds are always somewhere else. You are alive but in fact, you are not really alive while the Buddha said, that life can be found only in the present moment.
During this weekend we will enjoy precious time to live mindfully and peacefully in each moment as a spiritual family, and practice mindful singing, mindful walking, mindful eating, mindful sharing, and mindful calligraphy writing.
This will offer you space and time to enjoy your life, to discover something special within, and find your true Self that brings you happiness in the present moment.
